Perennial relegation battlers, Barnsley will be hoping that they can have a better impact on the 2013/14 Championship after finishing the season encouragingly under new boss, David Flitcroft. Flitcroft, who took permanent charge after the departure of Keith Hill, has brought positive energy back to the Oakwell club and after surviving what appeared to be a likely relegation at the turn of the New Year, the Tykes can rebuild for another year in the second tier. Hill successfully secured the services of striker Chris O'Grady from Sheffield Wednesday after an impressive loan spell last term. His goals could prove vital if the Reds are to cement a safe mid-table position. Barnsley's wildcard signing could prove to be former Bayern Munich youngster, Dale Jennings, who has returned to the UK following a two-year stay at the Bundesliga giants. The pacey forward had a number of admirers but opted to join Barnsley and could provide that something extra in the final third. Shipping goals has also been a major issue in recent years and the capture of Lewin Nyatanga will hopefully provide stability at centre half.

Target

Avoid becoming embroiled in yet another relegation scrap - a safe mid-table position.
