Royston Drenthe (midfielder, Alania Vladikavkaz), Wayne Bridge (defender, Manchester City), Danny Williams (midfielder, Hoffenheim).

Out

Joseph Mills (defender, Burnley), Noel Hunt (attacker, Leeds), Jay Tabb (defender, Ipswich), Mikkel Andersen (goalkeeper, Randers, loan), Ian Harte (defender, AFC Bournemouth), Nick Arnold (defender, Wycombe, loan), Daniel Carrico (defender, Sevilla, loan), Michael Hector (Aberdeen, loan)

Reading were relegated from the Premier League last term and the decision to replace Brian McDermott with Nigel Adkins was a questionable one to say the least. But Adkins has experience with Southampton of taking a side into the Premier League and that will certainly be the aim for him this term. Royston Drenthe and Wayne Bridge have plenty of experience to add to the Royals' line-up to go with a talented core group of especially young players. Nick Blackman is one player big things are expected of this term. Reading still have plenty of the core group of players that helped them win promotion from this division two years ago such as Jem Karacan, Jimmy Kebe, Jobi McAnuff, Adam Le Fondre and Adam Federici. That promotion came about due to an outstanding run of form. It is clear Reading are a close-knit bunch but whether they have the overall talent to mount another promotion challenge is questionable.

Target

Expectations are still high after last year's Premier League campaign and fans and club officials will want nothing less than promotion.
