Charlton Athletic cemented their place in the Championship with relative ease last term under young boss, Chris Powell. Powell, a former Addicks player, has cleverly masterminded an upturn in fortunes for the South East London outfit, and they will be looking to kick on and make an impact in the top half of the table in 2013/14. Charlton came close to gatecrashing the playoffs last year, such was their strong finish to the campaign, but Powell will also be mindful of their erratic early season form which saw them struggle in the bottom half. New signings have been far from plentiful, with experienced duo, Richard Wood and Mark Gower coming in at The Valley to augment what is largely a young and vibrant squad of players. Staying clear of the relegation places and kicking on will be the aim, particularly with many clubs boasting larger transfer budgets.
