The mood in pre-season at Turf Moor has been arguably the lowest it has been over the last five seasons. The Clarets were stuck in a rut at the end of last season, briefly looking like they may end up in the relegation mix. Their summer activity has not offered much of promise. They have signed four goalkeepers including Alex Cisak and Tom Heaton from League One clubs while Lee Grant was poached by Derby and Brian Jensen released. Attacker Ryan Noble is a promising youngster but losing Chris McCann and Martin Paterson will hit the Clarets hard. The situation surrounding Charlie Austin is the most interesting. He failed a medical and therefore his £4.5 million move to Hull City fell through, a disastrous situation for both player and club. He still may well leave but for a smaller transfer fee making Burnley have a massive void. Austin scored 28 goals last season and Burnley struggled when he was injured.

Target

May be in for a relegation battle so will surely settle for survival.
