Brian McDermott's first pre-season as Leeds manager has seen plenty of off the field issues dominating proceedings such as the ownership of the club. So far he is has achieved a real coup of the signing of Luke Murphy from Crewe, the highly rated midfielder. But he has loaned out Steve Morison who had such a woeful end of last term. Leeds were inconsistent last term but were still always a threat on home soil and the challenge for McDermott is to be consistent at all venues. There is always pressure to succeed at a club like Leeds but so far there is little to suggest that a promotion challenge is firmly in the offing. McDermott will want to be backed more than he has been financially so far but he has proved with Reading he is an excellent motivator and more than capable of getting his sides to go on crucial late runs.

Target

Fans will expect promotion but that is probably unrealistic so a solid top half showing will be acceptable.
