Sheffield Wednesday had a peculiar season last term as they attempted to settle to life in the Championship. They had two excellent sequence of results but also a long winless run that put them well back. Wednesday really lack much in the way of attacking threat but appear to have signed two excellent players in other departments. Jeremy Helan starred on loan from Manchester City and his decision to move permanently is a real coup for Dave Jones. Jacques Maghoma has also arrived after a successful team at League Two side Burton where he was excellent on the wing. Wednesday have not lost any decent players over the summer break so they should be stronger. If Jones can get them to become a tad more consistent they should be capable of a top half of the table finish. Rumours of Milan Mandaric selling the club are an inconvenience though and Wednesday would dearly like their off the field issues resolved as quickly as possible.

Target

Jones will challenge his side to make the play-offs. Wednesday still have a big fan base and expectations amongst them remain high.
