After a poor 2019-2020 campaign, Torino took a further step back last season finishing in 17th, just 4 points above the relegation zone. It was a season characterised by mediocrity at all levels. President Cairo saw that it was time for a big change. Coach Davide Nicola was shown the door having led the Bulls to salvation after the disastrous Marco Giampaolo era. Ivan Juric took charge off the back of two great seasons at Hellas Verona. Juric has a very proactive and intense idea of football and so the management started strengthening the squad with that in mind. Only a couple of important players left over the summer. Seasoned goalkeeper Sirigu was let go, whilst Nkoulou left on a free transfer. Other than that, a few players returned to their parent clubs after the end of their loans but they are not expected to be missed. Baselli and Rincon may not feature in Juric's plans and could leave soon. Belotti is still attracting the interest of several clubs and his future at Torino is uncertain. In terms of new signings, Berisha should become Milinkovic-Savic's deputy in goal. Pjaca arrives on loan from Juventus after some disappointing loans elsewhere. He was not helped by injuries and could acquire a starting berth in the attack. More youngsters have also arrived, but are expected to be squad players. Torino are currently looking for a holding midfielder to play next to Mandragora and some attacking midfielders. A striker could also be needed whether Belotti stays on or not.

Target

A comfortable season avoiding relegation should be within reach. A push for a top 10 finish seems unlikely at the moment, though.
