Disappointing season saw them finish only in 9th place. Never in any contention for Europe. Lack of goals, only 39 scored in 34 games, led to lack of wins W12 D6 L16. Sacked coach Luis Pinto in March, after round 25, but his successor Gil Lameiras failed to improve the displays. Vitoria were 9th when they opted to change managers and they simply stayed in that position the rest of the way. This led to another managerial change in the summer. Lameiras was let go and for the new season Tiago Margarido is in charge. He led Nacional for the last 3 years. So far, the summer activity has been negative. Lost their main DM Sousa and probably their best winger Saviolo. No meaningful moves to replace them have been made yet. From the new signings made the only likely regular starter is GK Zych. Ndoye remains the only natural CF on the roster. This will likely see Vitoria using fluid front line in many games, especially on the road. Arcanjo and Gustavo Silva are good wingers that can operate as a fluid front line. Captain Samu must stay healthy at all cost. Simply don’t create chances when he is not playing. Right now Vitoria look weaker compared to last season. Have funds from the sales of their 2 stars to change that, but as of yet no major moves have been made.

Target

High ambitions. Hope to be back in the race for Europe. Need reinforcements.
