Belenenses are coming off a very disappointing season and the fans showed their discontentment quite often. They are hoping for a much better campaign this time and there will have to be drastic improvements. Domingos Paciência was third coach to arrive at Restelo last season and he failed to have a good impact in the few rounds he was in charge. As for now, he will have proper preparation for the season and a chance to build the team according to the ideas he wants them to follow. This should work around a 4-4-2 formation judging by the last games of the previous season. In a surprise move to recently promoted Desportivo das Aves, midfielder Vítor Gomes is the only significant departure. Ricardo Dias, who returns from a relatively good spell at Feirense, and Merlin Tadjigora, who returns to Portuguese football, are for now the players that might be candidates to replace Vítor Gomes in the team. Once a promising talent of Portuguese football, Bruno Pereirinha is coming back from a bizarre experience in Brazil and should affirm himself as an important player for Azuis this season. Despite some other yet relatively unknown names signing in as well, Belenenses fans surely are counting more on the talent of some players that remain from last year, such as striker Maurides who kept scoring goals in his short spell at Restelo last season even when the team was not playing too good and mainly losing.

Target

Erase last season's image and end in the top 10 places, at least. Avoiding relegation should not be enough of a goal.
