Out

Portimonense returns to the Portuguese top flight after a seven year absence and they will want to do better this time around as they were immediately relegated the last time they played at this level. In order to do that, it might be enough to keep the level of performances of last season as Portimonense dominated the Second Division since very early on. They did drop their level in the final part of the campaign but still managed to keep 1st place and, perhaps more important than that, finished with an amazing 19 points advantage over 3rd place. This means the team from Algarve really had no problems in qualifying for the top division. Unlike the other team promoted this season, Portimonense will be keeping most of the squad that granted them promotion. There have been very few departures and also very few new faces for the season, despite coach Vítor Oliveira admitting he might be needing some new additions, maybe on loan. All attention should be focused on one player that truly impressed last season. Brazilian midfielder Paulinho was already linked with moves to big clubs such as FC Porto. Despite being an absolute debutant in a relevant competition this season, he is already estimated with a high transfer value. This season should be the time to get him ready for a big move.

Target

Avoiding relegation would be considered a good achievement in their return to top flight.
