The sad thing about this club nowadays is the general indifference. Nothing changes anything for them; they're just steady. Stable. Almost boring, if you like. A classic example would be the departure of regular LWB Czyborra - the writing was on the wall there after he unexpectedly missed some matches earlier in 2025 without explanation. The club showed no real ambition to replace him permanently though, instead playing it safe by loaning Böckle from Rapid. An 'indifferent' change, if you will. They finished close to the relegation zone last season but it never truly felt like they were in danger of being relegated, not with Grazer AK struggling for goals, SCR Altach barely laying a glove on anyone, and Austria Klagenfurt almost unrecognisable. They achieved their customary goal of survival with minimal heart-attacks. This season isn't likely to be any different. Some average players left (David, Blume, Skrbo) and were replaced by general safe bets with Wels joining on loan from Austria in midfield, and Boras arriving from Slaven Koprivnica to beef up their defence. Skrbo was replaced more impressively by Thomas Sabitzer, who isn't good enough for the better teams but is an excellent striker for a team like WSG Tirol. Little has changed at the club pre-season, really. A change of manager and a change of formation are equally as unlikely as one another. Minor changes to the starting eleven are expected but they should be in a position to start strongly enough because of their solid and familiar core. They're not going to do anything special but they'll do enough to survive, as always - and they'll prioritise being hard to beat. In a more competitive division with better teams, they'd be in the relegation battle. However, given what they're up against, they should really be comfortable enough in the Bundesliga table, neither threatening to over-achieve nor endangering their survival.
