Norwich City

In Brief

Despite heavy defeat at Anfield display was positive. Expected to be much more effective at home. Zimmermann, Klose, Hernandez and Drmic sidelined. McLean major doubt. Amadou and Tettey passed fit.

Looking Back

Despite heavy 1:4 defeat on visit to Liverpool on their way back to top flight Norwich were bold and really impressed going forward. The display showed that against teams outside Big 6 Canaries should be really dangerous.

Defensive improvement needed though, with young Godfrey and Lewis not looking like players ready to be used at Premier League level.

Looking Ahead

Coach Farke has Amadou nd Tettey fit again, but important Zimmermann and Klose still out. Also Hernandez ruled out for 3 months after domestic incident, with Drmic also missing game. McLean unlikely to feature too for unspecified reason.

Hernandez improved forward actions after coming off bench last weekend and now he hopes to start.

Points of Interest

Yet to lose home league match this calendar year. Last season finished on run of 7 wins and 3 draws in front of own fans!

In Brief

Narrow defeat to start season. Lazaar, Aarons, Colback, Yedlin, Gayle, Atsu, Carroll and Lejeune unavailable. Saint-Maximin slight doubt. Shelvey passed fit.

Looking Back

Newcastle not awful, but not great, in first game under Bruce and in the end the lack of enough quality in attack reason for 0:1 home defeat vs. Arsenal.

New striker Joelinton not as good in the air as Rondon was last season, just 11% of his goals in Bundesliga last term were headers, and different approach going forward will be needed.

Looking Ahead

Coach Bruce has no reason to change the formation for this one, but Krafth could push Manquillo for start at right-back. Shelvey able to overcome knock sustained vs. Arsenal, with Saint-Maximin only slight doubt and also expected to travel.

Yedlin back in training, but won't return just yet, while 3 players left out of 25-man Premier League squad + Carroll, Atsu and Lejeune unavailable until September.

Points of Interest

All of last 4 clashes between sides have been goal thrillers, with both sides scoring 2 goals or more in every one of these 4 matches.
