In Brief

Despite luck needed able to hold off Man City to draw away from home. Foyth, Ndombele and Sessegnon sidelined. Alli faces late fitness test. Son back after ban.

Looking Back

Spurs rode luck on visit to Man City, but somehow managed to save 2:2 draw and this should give everyone in team even more confidence.

The first 2 displays have been a bit laboured, but still positive results secured and this is true mark of strong team.

Ndombele making flying start to his Tottenham career – goal in round 1 followed by assists vs. City.

Looking Ahead

Coach Pochettino happy to have Son back after ban and at least in attack Spurs have major luxury these days as both Lamela and Moura started season very strong.

Foyth and Sessegnon remain sidelined, while despite being fit Vertonghen was not used in any of first 2 rounds with Sanchez seemingly set to become main figure in defence this term.

Alli resumed training this week and he might be able to get involved at least off the bench. Impressive in first 2 rounds Ndombele set to miss though, he hurt his thigh in training.

Points of Interest

Seek fifth consecutive win in this fixture.

In Brief

Poor in both games so far and deservedly beaten both times. Gayle, Carroll, Yedlin and Lejeune sidelined. Atsu, Saint-Maximin and Joelinton passed fit.

Looking Back

Newcastle looked poor on visit to Norwich and logically lost 1:3, with first goal this season not coming until stoppage time when game was long decided.

In both rounds so far looked very flat going forward and already worries about Bruce’s abilities as manager.

Looking Ahead

Coach Bruce was given just 2 rounds before heavy criticism started piling on him, but in all fairness his old-fashioned negative tactics hardly can win him anything and he must modernise his approach fast.

Big summer signings Saint-Maximin and Joelinton able to shrug off problems. Atsu also available after missing a few weeks injured.

Gayle, Carroll, Yedlin and Lejeune remain in rehabilitation.

Points of Interest

None of players that have scored last 8 goals vs. Tottenham still in squad.
