In Brief

Exiles see off Mansfield Town on penalties to reach Wembley; no new injury concerns; Nick Townsend sidelined.

Looking Back

Newport County beat Mansfield Town 5-3 in a penalty shoot-out in the second leg of their play-off semi-final at Field Mill.

The tie had ended goal-less after extra time and finished 1-1 on aggregate. The Exiles are now unbeaten in a dozen games.

Manager Michael Flynn made one change to his starting line-up with Joss Labadie returning from a gashed ankle.

He was preferred to Matty Dolan, who dropped to the bench. Will Randall was preferred to loanee Tyreeq Bakinson on the bench.

Looking Ahead

Flynn has no new injury concerns and is likely to stick with the same side after such a strong performance at Mansfield.

Nick Townsend (bicep) isn't expected to be fit until next season otherwise the Exiles have a full squad.

Points of Interest

The two sides have met just four times previously, with three draws and a Newport win at Prenton Park in September last year. There have been just three goals scored in those four meetings.

Manager Micky Mellon named an unchanged starting line-up last time out.

He made just one change on the bench with Paul Mullin returning after shaking off a knock.

He was preferred to loanee Ben Pringle, who was left out of the squad.

Looking Ahead

Mellon has no new injury concerns and is likely to stick with the same side after such a strong performance at Forest Green.

A long-term hamstring injury is expected to keep Ishmael Miller sidelined.

Evan Gumbs and Mark Ellis are set to miss the rest of 2019 with long-term knee injuries.
