In Brief

Winless since Boxing Day (D2 L2). FA Cup best remaining chance to qualify for Europe. Squad crippled – captain Lloris and Kane amongst 4 missing regulars. Alderweireld could be rested.

Looking Back

Spurs have earned single point from last 3 Premier League matches, with very negative and defensive display on Saturday night seeing Lilywhites beaten 0:1 at home by champions-to-be Liverpool.

With league form poor likely to focus lots of effort on FA Cup, currently this only realistic chance of winning silverware and best chance to qualify for Europe.

Looking Ahead

Coach Mourinho unlikely to be as defensive in his tactics as he was at weekend and return to 4-2-3-1 shape possible. Sessegnon, Lo Celso and Lamela just some of players hoping to be picked from the off for this one.

Problems in every area of the pitch due to injuries – captain Lloris missing on goal + left-back Davies, 2 main inner midfielders Ndombele and Sissoko also out, as well as star striker Kane.

Alderweireld started 13 consecutive games and he could be rested now.

In Brief

High on confidence after 6-game unbeaten run (W4 D2). Selection issues remain serious – captain Ayala amongst 5 missing players + top scorer Assombalonga ruled out. Main goalie Randolph fit, but set to leave club soon.

Looking Back

Boro had the lead twice when hosting Derby at weekend, but both times failed to defend properly and in the end had to settle for 2:2 draw, result which stopped 4-game winning run in league.

Did well to frustrate Tottenham in first match and strong displays in midfield main reason for impressive 6-game unbeaten run stretching back to mid-December.

However, injury-hit defensive line makes Boro prone to individual errors at the back when put under extended periods of pressure.

Looking Ahead

Coach Woodgate has main goalie Randolph fit although he is set to join West Ham soon and not expected to feature. Best centre-back and team captain Ayala + 3 other potential starters in defence.

Also star striker Assombalonga failed late fitness test and remains unavailable.

Man City loanees Roberts and Nmecha playing well since joining, with former in line for third consecutive start.
