Scott Arfield and Kemar Roofe gave Rangers a two-goal lead but the hosts threw it away in a matter of three minutes. James Tavernier scored an own goal and substitute, Pizzi, netted Benfica's second to secure a 2-2 draw.

In a game that was played behind closed doors, Benfica were down several starters due to injuries, COVID-19 and suspension. Their absence was obvious in the first minutes, when Rangers dominated and managed to open the scoring through Arfield.

Benfica tried to bounce back immediately after conceding, but neither Everton nor Rafa Silva managed to hit the target in the first part when the visitors dominated possession but couldn't capitalise.

Rangers looked comfortable on the pitch and Roofe netted a second with 20 minutes to go, to double the home side's lead.

As they did in the previous match against Benfica, Rangers rested on their laurels when they grabbed a two goal lead and for yet another time, the Portuguese side managed to come back and equalise.

Benfica turned this game around thanks to their changes. Tavernier was unlucky to put the ball into his own net but it was second-half sub, Pizzi, who netted Benfica's second in a matter of three minutes.

Shocked by blewing their lead, Rangers didn't threaten the visitors in the remaining minutes.

Rangers didn't learn from their mistakes and wasted a two-goal lead for a second European game in a row. Benfica had the possession and although they struggled to create chances in the final third, this draw seems as a fair result.
