Game Report

Highlights

Henri Lansbury had a stoppage-time equaliser controversially disallowed as ten man Aston Villa were beaten at Crystal Palace. Jordan Ayew's goal proved to be the winner but the visitors were left fuming by the referee's decision to chalk off Lansbury's effort.

Detail

A fairly even first half overall. The visitors started the brighter and Wesley Moraes was their danger-man as he forced a couple of early saves from Vicente Guaita.

Crystal Palace started to take over as the half progressed - getting their wide players more involved. James McArthur skied a great chance from Jeff Schlupp's low cross.

A turning point in the game early in the second half as Trezeguet mis-timed a tackle on Wilfried Zaha. The Egyptian had already been booked so the red was inevitable.

The Eagles eventually made their numerical advantage count with a quick counter-attack. Ayew managed to bundle his way past both Tyrone Mings and Jack Grealish before finishing well.

Massive controversy to end the game. Grealish tumbled but managed to get the ball to Landsbury who fired it in but the referee deemed Grealish to have dived in the build-up.

Summary

Relief for Crystal Palace who got away with one right at the end. Aston Villa have every right to feel aggrieved about that late refereeing call.
