Colorado Rapids

Last updated: Sun 30 June 2019 08:47
In Brief

The Rapids came away from a long trip to Vancouver with a point yet will be disappointed after letting a two-goal lead slip. Nicholson is doubtful after missing out and both Ford and Wynne are both still injured. Jonathan Lewis is on international duty.

Looking Back

Colorado got off to an excellent start, going 2-0 up within 20 minutes in Vancouver but conceded in first-half stoppage time and then again 10 minutes from time to give up the lead.

Nicolas Mezquida was excellent, registering a pair of assists and having another effort cleared off the line.

Looking Ahead

Sam Nicholson missed the trip to Vancouver due to a hamstring injury and is doubtful.

Colorado could go with an unchanged line up against LA FC, setting up in their familiar 4-2-3-1 formation with Mazquida supporting Kamara in attack.

Points of Interest

Colorado are unbeaten in the last five MLS games, winning three and drawing the other two

Los Angeles FC

In Brief

Guido doubt. Kaye, Miller, Silva, Beitashour, Perez, and Zimmerman all unavailable. LA continues to rack up the goals with impressive Open Cup wins.

Looking Back

The break from MLS action has seen two successfully powerful performances from LAFC against Real Salt Lake and San Jose Earthquakes in the US Open Cup respectively.

Impressive in the absence of Tyler Miller, Pablo Sisniega has come up with some big saves to keep LAFC on course in the Open Cup. Miller now has a real fight on his hands.

LAFC are now on a run of 13 goals in four games. Their goal-scoring form is the best in the league as in recent weeks.

Looking Ahead

Looking forward, they still have some big concerns to negotiate. Mark-Anthony Kaye, Walker Zimmerman, and Miller are all with their international teams at the Gold Cup. LA will have to cope for now.

In a bid to keep things fresh, don't be too surprised if Bob Bradley decides to give the likes of Lee Nguyen and Andre Horta some minutes. LA have been one of the only sides continuously playing football in recent weeks.

Alejandro Guido remains a big doubt, but Javi Perez and Steven Beitashour are both injured for the trip to Colorado. Danilo Silva will also sit out with hamstring pain this weekend.

Points of Interest

Eight games have now went past since LA failed to score. Are unbeaten in their last five away matches, scoring in every one.
