Football Season Review

№10: Red Bull Bragantino

The newly promoted was one of the sensations of the season. The strong financial status and the solid project supported a great return for the historical club Bragantino, away from top flight football for quite a while. ‘Massa Bruta’ was clearly ahead of the other three newly promoted sides, as they were able to attract some confirmed talents, like Artur, Lucas Evangelista and Cleiton. The three proved to be great additions to the team but the real gems where not them. Centre-half Leo Ortiz was a true leader at the back, despite heavy competition in the place. Raúl and Ryller were very consistent in midfield, and the veteran Ytalo was the reference in attack (Alerrandro spent most time out injured). But the real standout was the no. 10 Claudinho. The playmaker wasn’t even considered a first option in the beginning of the season. However, he was considered by many the best player of the league, in the end. His numbers can’t deny his excellent season: 18 goals (league’s co-top scorer, 10 assists and over 80 key passes in the season). The season wasn’t always easy, though. The team took a while to find their own pace and picked only 2 wins in the first 16 rounds. The good results started when Claudinho opened the gates for his wonderful scoring streak in the second part of the season. The club board promised the club to be fighting for the title already in 2022, which means they will be aiming for a strong season already in 2021. And that won’t come without continuous investment.

Player of the Season: Claudinho
