Altach have had a somewhat disappointing 2019/20 campaign, as they failed to qualify for the Championship Group and then failed to qualify for Europe through the Relegation Group Play-offs. However, their campaign was much better than the one they had a year earlier, when only a late resurgence, which they had after Alex Pastoor took over, resulted in their survival in the division. The reason why the previous campaign was somewhat of a disappointment is the general consensus that Altach's performances were not matched by their results - they kept playing good football but were let down by shortcomings at both ends of the pitch, with a lack of a constant source of goals being particularly frustrating. For this reason, their fans will be worried to have seen two of their last season's top scorers leave the club in Sidney Sam and Christian Debauer, with the former leaving after failing to agree a contract extension and the latter deciding to continue his career in Germany. For more than a decade, Altach have been shopping outside of the top flight, with this summer's list of arrivals including only one familiar Bundesliga name, with this being Mattersburg keeper Tino Casali. While losing two of their most potent attacking threats is obviously worrying, a major boost is that Pastoor has decided to stay on in his role as their manager. There is an overall feeling that there is just that little extra something missing before Altach become a genuine top half side and it remains to be seen if things will click for them this season.

Target

While their squad looks a touch weaker than it was last season, Altach have showed plenty of potential and will be aiming for a top half finish.
