Had a calm last season with solid, but not great, form displayed throughout – W12 D9 L13. Finished 9th and from as early as February knew they were mid-table bound. Ended up full 12 points outside the top 5 but 18 points above the bottom 3. Cassiano was vital in attack. He was directly involved in nearly half of Casa Pia’s 39 league goals – 10 goals and 6 assists. The main strength was the solid defence. Had issues on the road but at home only the top 4 sides had better defensive record. Young coach Pereira (33) impressed with his tactics in what was his 1st year as a HC. Now with some experience under his belt he can continue to develop personally. He likes to change formations and personnel based on the opponents. This trend should continue. Lost 2 of their best defenders this summer – Kluivert and Lilo were sold. Captain Fonte (41) extended for another season though so he will remain the calming presence in defence. New CB Rocha is not expected to start many matches. Tchamba and Goulart should remain ahead of him in the rotation. Jérémy Livolant found form in April-May. The manager hopes he can keep this level. If he does Cassiano’s impact will be even greater up front. He will receive a hefty bonus if he can reach 15 league goals this season so this is extra motivation for him.

Target

Hope to make the top 6. Top half finish will still be acceptable.
