Reclaimed the title thanks to a great play-off run. The season wasn’t going too well in 2025. Sacked coach Hayen and replaced him with Ivan Leko, poached from KAA Gent. Leko’s second term in charge of Blue and Blacks started well. Strong finish to the regular season saw Club enter the play-offs right behind Union Saint-Gilloise. During the post-season Tzolis and the league’s Golden Boot winner Tresoldi (19 goals) caught fire. Led by them Club’s attack scored 32 goals in the 10 play-off games and the 8 wins that were achieved gave the team the title. Involved in 42 goals in all competitions Tzolis was sold to Arsenal this summer. Main goalie Mignolet retired, a third impressive player Stankovic went back to Inter, buy-back-clause activated. Replacing Tzolis might prove impossible. Hopes are that young wingers Forbs and Diakhon can rise to the occasion. They are most likely to become regulars out wide. Captain Vanaken should continue to play right behind prolific striker Tresoldi. Stankovic’s role in midfield seems to be reserved for Vetlesen. That said 19-year-old newcomer Tsawa could get opportunities in the double-six role. Especially, if the other regular from last season Onyedika also leaves. He was trying to force a transfer as early as January. Vastly experienced Sommer, 37-years-old, arrives to replace Mignolet on goal. He is possible improvement on goal. The back line remains the same at the moment of writing. Ordonez is subject to major interest though. If he leaves a replacement will be needed but in the short term Spileers should be able to step in. Remains to be seen how much of an impact the departure of Tzolis will have. Elsewhere, Club look well stocked with talent yet again.
