Flamengo enjoyed a historic 2025 season, clinching the Série A title in commanding fashion and securing the club’s eighth national crown with a highly consistent campaign. They also won the Copa Libertadores, beating Palmeiras 1–0 in the final to claim a fourth continental trophy. In contrast, Flamengo exited the Copa do Brasil early in the round of 16, a rare domestic disappointment amid an otherwise stellar year.
2025 was a year of records for Flamengo, who smoked every competition, including a highly competitive Palmeiras. Flamengo had better numbers, in terms of titles, than those in 2019 under Jorge Jesus. Mid-season transfwer window was also the heaviest in terms of investment, with the arrival of heavyweight names like Jorginho, Carrascal, Emerson, Saul and Lino.
Filipe Luís will have his 3rd season on board of the most demanding job in Brazilian football. The former left-back assumed the position in the middle of 2024 season and was impressive right from the start. His style is predominantly possession-base and attacking-minded, but he proved already to be very flexible.
Flamengo has been quiet and chirurgical in the market, so far. Centre-half Vitão is the big new signing, and he arrives to challenge for a spot on the XI, although he should be behind Leo Pereira, Danilo and Leo Ortiz for the centre-back position. Andrew is a safe bet for the reserve goalkeeper position. No relevant departures.
On the most powerful, versatile and deep squad of the country, it's hard to pick the most influential players, but playmaker Arrascaeta makes it easier with his unquestionable numbers: top scorer and top assister by far on the team, in 2025.
It will be vital for Filipe Luís and the board to keep Pedro motivated to avoid the discipline issues of last season. There's really no other striker that can properly replace him. Club is working on signing with a big name, but, for now, that remains the biggest weakness of the champions.
