After winning 20 of their 30 league games in 2019, Djurgarden were deservedly crowned champions. Main reason for this triumph were several decisive late wins against direct rivals and the extremely solid defending that brought 16 clean sheets. In the off season 2 major departures happened. The team’s captain and best centre-back Danielsson moved to China, while 2019’s Allsvenskan Golden Boot winner Buya Turay returned to his parent club. The departure of the latter was addressed even before it happened with Kujovic arriving midway through last season so he could settle and now lead the attack in 2020. The forward line was also strengthened by the only major winter signing Karl Holmberg, who is proven goalscorer at this level. After spending most of last season out injured Erik Berg is ready to become regular starter in defence, with at least 9 of the 11 likely regulars in 2020 the same as they were for most of last season! Main weakness seems to be the defensive line, with only 3 typical centre-backs on the books, 1 of which a hugely inexperienced teenager. This means that Berg and Une Larsson must stay fit if Djurgarden are to be successful.

Target

Djurgarden are likely to find it hard to defend their title, but top 4 finish is achievable target as it guarantees place in Europe.
