Haka enjoyed their best ever campaign in 2022 when able to finish 4th. There was slight disappointment in the end as Haka missed out on the medals by only 4 points. However, the overall feeling was of job well done. Lee Erwin ended up winning the Golden Boot at the end of 2022 and the Scotsman was hugely influential all season. Erwin’s great returns didn’t go unnoticed and in the off-season a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia tempted the striker and he left. The other 2 important players to leave were defenders Lucas and Saarinen. Haka is one of the richest teams in Finland so they reacted quickly and signed quality replacements. Lescano arrives to fill the void left by Erwin. This season he and the 2022 super sub Zarokostas are expected to be scoring most of the goals. Attacking midfielder Boukassi also joined and this suggests that the new preferred formation will be 4-2-3-1. Rogerson had an impressive last season with 10+ assists and he will be hoping to continue to shine on the left wing. The rebuilt back line will have at least 2 new regular starters. Africans Ndiaye and Bah-Traore are seen as potential regulars this season. Even without Erwin’s goals Haka continue to have an impressive squad and very good depth, so the ambitions for the new campaign are very high.
