Arne Slot's arrival at the helm of the team in 2021/2022 brought Feyenoord back among the protagonists of both Dutch and European football. Thanks to an almost perfect campaign, the Rotterdam side became Dutch Champions again last season, after 6 years empty-handed, while also reaching the semifinals in both the KNVL Cup and the Europa League. They did not lose any Eredivisie games between September and the last week of May, while being utterly unbeatable also internationally between November and early April. Feyenoord particularly excelled away, while they only held the second best defence and the third best attack of the league. Unlike last season, when Feyenoord saw players coming and leaving well into the early games of the campaign, this time around Slot could already rely on an almost full squad during the pre-season. The Dutch Champions faced 3 major departures during the summer: Kokçu and Szymanski, capable of 22 goals and 12 assists together from the midfield, left for a wide amount of cash and a loan end respectively while winger Idrissi returned to his parent club, Sevilla. Zerrouki and Van den Belt, who did well at Twente and Zwolle respectively, are expected to play major roles in the middle of the park while former-AZ Stengs represents the perfect alternative to Idrissi as a winger, after a somehow disappointing stint at Nice. Coach Slot is happy with his squad but is still hoping for the arrival of a new striker, since sometime disappointing Danilo, 14 goals and 4 assists in the whole season, is about to quit soon.

Target

Feyenoord are the main candidate for the Eredivisie title, given Ajax and PSV current problems.
