Twente confirmed the good they did in the previous season by being accredited among the best teams in the Eredivisie, even if not at the level of the big three. They finished the season in 5th position, but fought for 3rd place almost to the end, only a drop in the last few weeks prevented them from qualifying for the Europa League. They won the playoffs easily defeating Heerenveen and Sparta Rotterdam and therefore qualified for the second round of Conference League's preliminaries. Last year they were eliminated by Fiorentina (who reached the final of the competition) in the last qualifying round. This year they aim to reach the group stage. However, the team will have to get used to the schemes of the new coach Joseph Oosting who has taken the place of the architect of the successes of recent years Ron Jans. In reality, the choice of club seems very smart, since the two use more or less the same system of play. It will be much more difficult to replace midfielder Ramiz Zerrouki, one of the best in his role past season, who moved to Feyenoord, and the two wingers, Vaclav Cerny and Virgil Misidjan. The most important signings came from Ajax, two young talents such as central midfielder Youri Regeer and above all the talented striker Naci Ünüvar.

Target

Twente have the potential to remain at the same level as in recent years, but it won't be easy, much will depend on the impact of the new coach and the latest signings needed to complete the roster.
