Football Season Guide

The Frisians are coming from a season more or less in line with expectations, started well, had a crisis in the middle and recovered some points in the end, enough to reach the 8th place that gave them access to the playoffs. Unfortunately, in the semifinals they were clearly defeated by Twente. Coach Kees van Wonderen, confirmed also for this season, organized the defense well, but lacked in the attack play. They only scored 44 goals goals in 34 rounds, despite the great season of forward Sydney van Hooijdonk, third Eredivisie's best scorer with 16 goals. The bad news is that Van Hooijdonk has returned to Bologna, and his main partner in attack, Antoine Colassin has also returned to his former club. Moreover, talented right-back Milan van Ewijk moved to Coventry City. There have been no other relevant departures so far, but it won't be easy to hold back Dutch international goalkeeper Andries Noppert. In terms of arrivals so far nothing has moved, apart from the arrival on loan from Chelsea U21 midfielder Charlie Webster and young Denzel Hall from Feyenoord. There's still time to strengthen the team, especially in the attacking sector, where there are the biggest gaps.
