Despite only winning promotion through the play-offs, Fleetwood are arguably the newly-promoted side that is best equipped to do well in League One in the new season. The reason for this is, of course, the presence of their chairman Andy Pilley, who made vast transfer funds available to manager Graham Alexander in each of the previous two summer transfer windows, and will not hesitate to do the same midway through the new season if the Fishermen end up struggling to find their form. As one would expect from a manager with money at his disposal, Alexander opted to bring in mainly players proven in the second and third tier, with the list of arrivals including the likes of Jamie Proctor, Keith Southern, Josh Morris and Stephen Crainey, with the sole summer signing without experience of playing at a level higher than League Two being full-back Danny Andrew, who signs from Macclesfield. The Fishermen only parted ways with the players they wanted to part with, as Junion Brown and Jon Parkin were released from their contracts, while Alan Goodall and Shaun Beeley both joined Morecambe. Their current squad consists of 24 players, and seems like a good mix of youth and experience, and League One veterans and talented men who will be looking to prove themselves in the third tier. All in all, they seem well-equipped to stay in the division with few troubles, and, if any problems arise, they will probably manage to solve them using money.

Target

With a young and promising manager, a decent squad and money available, Fleetwood will be aiming for a top half finish.
