Yeovil's promotion to the Championship in the 2012/13 season was one of the biggest surprises seen in League One over the recent years, but the Glovers were unable to continue the fairytale, and went straight back into League One after only a year in the second tier. Of course, Gary Johnson remained at the helm despite the relegation, and will try to engineer another unlikely promotion campaign for Yeovil. Relegation back into League One resulted in the Glovers losing three members of their promotion-winning back four, as Luke Ayling, Byron Webster and Jamie McAllister all left the club. With Marek Stech no longer being at the club, Johnson's first task in the summer transfer window was to sign a new keeper, and he brought in Chris Weale and Artur Krysiak, who decent keepers at League One level who will battle it out for the place between the posts. As many as four new defenders signed in Aaron Martin, Nathan Smith, Jakub Sokolik and Ben Nugent, as the Glovers will have a new-look defence in the new campaign. The Glovers still have decent quality in the middle of the pitch, but the situation in attack is less than promising, as their options do not look too good on paper, and they would need some of their strikers to repeat the wonder season Paddy Madden, who is no longer at the club, had in 2012/13 in order to have a chance of repeating the unlikely feat of staying up.
