Fleetwood’s first season under Scott Brown was a success. The Cod Army never got too troubled regarding their safety, secured it with over a month left to play, and on top of that they enjoyed a historic best-ever run in the FA Cup. Brown’s ability to motivate his players and the solid defensive displays all season proved enough to keep Fleetwood in mid-table all throughout. Also, the ex-Celtic captain used his connections at the Scottish giants to bring in some talented young players. More of the same can be expected this season too. Fleetwood’s only notable departure so far is that of the full-back Andrew. The squad is stacked with good defenders though and this is unlikely to be an issue. Star winger Omochere could be sold soon too but for now he remains at the club. Coach Brown already added one new player from Celtic. Montgomery comes as the natural replacement for the sold Andrew. The backbone of the midfield has stayed intact. If anything the signing of veteran Mayor only should add extra competition. One area Fleetwood need to strengthen is the attack, especially if as expected Omochere leaves. Stockley and Marriott are the only typical centre forwards on the books right now. They are both experienced strikers at this level but neither can score 15+ goals. With the season long and demanding it will be a major risk if no more depth is added in attack. Fleetwood can be expected to address that in coming weeks. For now it will be up to Stockley and Marriott to be scoring the goals.

Target

To stay out of trouble. With a bit of luck regarding health should be able to enjoy mid-table comfort.
