Peterborough sneaked into the play-offs on the final day of the regular season last year only to suffer a heartbreaking exit against Sheffield Wednesday when blowing away a 4-goal lead from the first leg. It was a season of inconsistencies for Peterborough and that’s how it ended too. All campaign scoring goals was coming easy. Captain Clarke-Harris won the League One Golden Boot. However, defensively things were bad all campaign. Peterborough also changed managers in January with Darren Ferguson back for his fourth spell as Peterborough’s head coach. He steadied the ship at the end of the previous campaign and now with a proper pre-season ahead of him he’s hoping to build the squad he really wants. Posh already parted ways with 4 regulars, 3 of which the main starters in midfield. It will be hard to replace Taylor and Norburn, but Peterborough have the money to invest in quality new midfielders and they already added talented De Havilland and Collins, but more additions in this zone can be expected. The team’s only reliable centre-back Kent also left. Yet to add too much new stock at the back, so Posh can be expected to struggle for clean sheets again. Scoring goals is unlikely to be a problem with an electric front 4 led by last season’s top goalscorer in the division Clarke-Harris.

Target

Top 6 finish is the goal. Posh have the quality to be in the hunt even for direct promotion.
