Oxford United were disappointing in the 2022/23 campaign. The U's would start the season poorly under manager Robinson, who'd eventually lose his job. Current boss Manning steadied the ship somewhat, guiding Oxford United to a finish just outside the relegation places. They'll now look to push up the League One table again. Oxford United have been busy in the transfer market. They desperately needed a striker and in Harris they have someone with real potential. McEachran bolsters their midfield ranks with some added quality, while Rodrigues and Thorniley will both play their roles within the first-team setup this season. Anderson, Seddon, Taylor and Stevens have all left. Over the last season or so, this quartet were utilised somewhat regularly. The fact that all those positions have been replaced has to be considered a positive by Manning and his coaching staff. Oxford's problem has always been conceding goals. The addition of Thorniley could help in that regard, though U's fans would like to see another defender or two added to the squad before the window slams shut. On the flip side, Oxford have managed to keep a real core group of players together. The likes of Brannagan, Bodin and McGuane all remain at the club. Their midfield looks strong as a result.

Target

Oxford United's finish last year didn't represent their overall ability. I'd expect The U's to finish in mid-table, though don't rule out a play-off push if they can start positively.
