After a disappointing 2024/2025 campaign, which led to the end of their love story with Simone Inzaghi, Inter decided to hand the reins of the team to Christian Chivu, coming from a positive debut as a head coach at Parma. Chivu was welcomed not too warmly and the start to the season seemed to give some reason to the evil-minded people. In fact, they lost 2 out of the 3 initial games, to Udinese and Juventus, conceding plenty of goals. Then, thanks to a 9-week march characterized by 8 wins, they set for the first time their foot on the top of the table in November, only to fall again against Milan. They eventually made the top again by the end of December and they would not leave it until the end. Meanwhile, they also offered themselves the Coppa Italia but suffered major disappointments in the Super Cup, they did not even make the final, and the Champions League. Inter held by far the best attack of the Serie A with 89 goals scored, while they also had one of the best defences, with 35 goals conceded. During the summer, Inter took some steps in order to become protagonists again also at a European level. First of all, aging goalie Sommer was let go since back-up Martinez proved to be a valid alternative, while they also hired Provedel, coming off a season spent on the sidelines at Lazio. At the back, centre-backs Darmian, De Vrij and Acerbi, no longer starting XI material, also left while Stones signed on a free and could become a protagonist in the heart of the defence. Pavard returned from a loan at Marseille, but they must add more depth to the bench. However, it is on the right that they suffered the major loss with starting Dumfries sold to Real Madrid and still not replaced yet, with Luis Henrique being inconsistent at times. In the midfield, they signed Stankovic, also considering that Mkhitaryan is not getting any younger, while there was no reason for touching the attack.

Target

Confirmation at the top in Italy and a bright European campaign.
