Ipswich Town were a real mixed bag last term. They started the campaign slowly, resulting in Paul Cook losing his job in December. The appointment of Kieran McKenna seemed to breathe a new lease of life into the Suffolk-based outfit, though they'd miss out on the playoffs during the last few weeks of the season. The Tractor Boys have let some key players go. Losing Bonne, Bakinson and Celina in particular, will hurt. Key acquisitions have been made in an attempt to replace the aforementioned trio. Ladapo proved his League One qualities with Rotherham last term. He'll be a good source of goals. Defensive midfielder Ball will also help secure that area of the field, while a loan for the lively John-Jules looks like a shrewd piece of business. The Ipswich Town squad is pretty deep, with their stern defence giving McKenna something to build a foundation on. They're also well-stocked in midfield. In terms of weaknesses, their front line feels a little inconsistent. You can expect goals galore one week while the next, they could struggle to find the target. A good start to the campaign could be all-important. Their opening handful of fixtures look relatively kind on paper.

Target

Promotion. Ipswich Town looked sharp under McKenna and they'll be looking to push for a place in the Championship in 2023/24. Be it via the playoffs or automatically.
