Juventude survived in their return to top flight, but just barely. Finished just 3 points away from relegation zone, mostly thanks to a difficult home win over 5th placed Corinthians in the last round. 2022 has been awful so far, as Juventude came very close from major humiliation in Campeonato Gaúcho (State Championship), finishing just 2 points away from relegation. Just 2 wins in 11 rounds. Of course, Jair Ventura was sacked after terrible run, in February. Eduardo Baptista is his replacement, and so far he looks like he’ll be setting up a straightforward 4-2-3-1 formation. Cazares has been linked with a move to ‘Ju’, and it seems that no. 10 position behind the striker is waiting for him. Goalkeeper Douglas left, so former Fortaleza main keeper Felipe Alves was brought in. However, it has surprisingly been César, coming from modest Londrina, to start in goal for Juventude, so far. Rodrigo Soares is an excellent addition for the right-back position, as he is quite the complete full-back, also good in set pieces. Danilo Boza (ex-Santos) and Paulo Miranda (ex-Grêmio) are decent signings for the centre-back, where Forster is expected to keep a spot in starting XI. William Matheus should continue as the main man for the left. Darlan Mendes arrived from Grêmio and has already formed a solid partnership with Jádson on the central midfield zone. For now, it has been the competent but hardly exciting Chico starting ahead of those two, but surely the team will want to bring a bigger talent. While no clear star has been brought for the attack, there are several options for the wings, as Oscar Ruiz, Pitta, Edinho, Vitor Gabriel and Parede joined Capixaba in the position. Ricardo Bueno is for now the best option for the no. 9 position.

Target

Highly expected to be involved in relegation fight.
