Despite a poor ending, Bragantino managed to have a very good season in 2021. At round 9, they were topping the table, and finished the first lap in top-5. The departure of Claudinho and some important injuries (namely on Lucas Evangelista) were among the main reasons for a drop of form in the final third of the season. ‘Massa Bruta’ has stayed fairly competitive for the State competition in 2022, although they seem to be struggling when playing away from home venue Nabi Abi Chedid. 'Braga' lost to Palmeiras in Campeonato Paulista's semi-final. There were very few moves on the transfer market, both coming in and out. Fabrício Bruno is the biggest name leaving the team to join giants Flamengo; winger Cuello is also an important player on the go, even if that doesn’t seem much of a problem, since the promising ‘Sorriso’ and Carlos Eduardo have arrived for the position. Hyoran is perhaps the most important new signing, even though the fans will be happier to see that the likes of Leo Ortiz and Artur have been kept despite many strong teams from abroad making bids on them. Lucas Evangelista staying fit for the season will also be as good as a big-name new signing, while this will be the last season for Eric Ramires to prove his potential, after a couple of disappointing seasons. Coach Barbieri should keep his 433/4231, with Artur and Helinho as the main source for creativity and creation of chances. Alerrandro and Novaes should be the main man for goals, while the reliable 34-years old Ytalo should be saved for second-halves appearances. If Artur and Ortiz leave the club, Bragantino don’t seem to have the financial strength of past years to go and sneak some immediate replacements elsewhere.

Target

‘Massa Bruta’ is expected to repeat a top-8 position in 2022.
