Victory had a strong but disappointing last campaign. They finished the regular season in 2nd place W16 D5 L2. Had the best defensive record though, only 21 goals conceded in the 23 games. Reached the Grand Final too, beat Adelaide 6-2 on aggregate, but failed to win the trophy. Lost vs Mariners on penalties after a nervy 1-1 draw. Over the summer months Victory saw their main striker Emily Gielnik (12 goals last season) and 4 of the main midfielders depart. To replace Gielnik brought in US striker Kennedy White from Hungary. She is a good player and should get in double digits for goals. The new-look midfield will include the best player from last-place Wanderers Sienna Saveska, star player for champions Mariners Taylor Ray and versatile star Rhianna Pollicina who joined from the city rivals. Victory’s back line was impressive but they seem to have strengthened it further. Brought in 3 new good defenders. RB Zoe McMeeken arrived from Wellington to replace the only notable departure from the defence Ellie Wilson.

Target

Hope for another Grand Final appearance.
