Tough last season saw them finish only 10th and full 11 points outside the play-offs – 6 wins, 4 draws and 13 defeats. In his first year in charge coach Peters failed to find solutions for the poor defending of set pieces. This was Glory’s worst attribute last term. No team conceded more than the 11 goals Glory allowed via dead-ball deliveries. This off-season the Violets went for serious strengthening. The only player to leave the team so far is injury-prone striker Brown. She’s been replaced very well already. Rola Badawiya comes from Portugal and expects to be the main starter up front. Trew also joined the team. She is a young prospect with a lot of promise. Philippine playmaker Emma Tovar arrived from Spain and she should be a key player too. Also added one of the best Aussie players under 18 Clancy Westaway to the ranks. In her first season at senior level she will likely be used often. Boosted the defence too. Goalkeeper Morrissey comes from champions Mariners. Also, explosive full-back Sardo is now part of the team. With 35 players, at the moment of writing, at his disposal coach Peters can’t hide behind excuses anymore. The Board made it clear with the moves they made this summer that a return to play-off football is the goal minimum.

Target

Mounting a play-off challenge is the task minimum. Have the squad to be serious contenders.
