Wolfsburg were unable to build on the previous season’s sixth placed finish but still ended up a respectable seventh, gaining entry to the Europa league. The Wolves fell away after a strong start to the campaign and would have been in the hunt for a top 4 finish, if it wasn’t for their inconsistent results and poor home record. Wolfsburg haven’t been overly busy in the transfer market but that isn’t surprising given the financial circumstances of the last campaign. Polish youngster Bartosz Bialek has been brought in up front in the hope of taking some pressure off top goalscorer Wout Weghorst, who scored 16 of their 48 goals last season. Maxence Lacroix is another up and coming youngster brought into the ranks as coach Oliver Glasner looks to the talented and hungry youth to push the club forward. Glasner has been able to keep hold of his key players, including Weghorst and Arnold whilst Brekalo, Schlager and Mbabu are all hoping to push on after impressive performances last season.
