Football Season Review

№13: FC Pacos de Ferreira

A tough season, as usual, for Castores. There was quality in the squad, and that was never in question, but somehow things didn’t seem to work until late in the season. With just one victory in the first 10 rounds, there were many questions already being made, but it became even worse when the team had a very bad sequence from mid-January to mid-February (4 defeats and 2 draws). Biggest praise should be made to the board who kept always with coach Pepa and gave the gaffer all confidence to keep his good work. 2 wins in the last 3 rounds before lockdown was a good start. However, the best moment for Castores came on the return: Paços only picked 3 defeats in the 10 rounds after lockdown, and all to big teams Sporting, Porto and Braga. Marcelo, Eustáquio, Amaral and Castanheira arrived in January and were massive boosts on the team’s quality. Striker Douglas Tanque finally started to produce the goods in front of goal on the final third of the season. Paços will definitely keep Pepa at the helm but surely will lose a big chunk of their important members, like Eustáquio, Pedrinho and Tanque. Next season shouldn’t be an exception and Paços should struggle again.
