Bayern Munchen reclaimed their dominance in Germany, cruising to a record 34th league title by registering their highest points tally in five seasons. The club looked to be taking a gamble by appointing Vincent Kompany at the start of last season, despite the Belgian having overseen relegation in the previous campaign. It paid off handsomely though as Bayern looked closer to their dominant best, finishing the season 13 points clear at the top and having scored 99 goals. Both the club and the fans though will be demanding better in the cup tournaments with Bayern enduring early exits both in the Champions League and the DFB Cup. Bayern still have some holes in their squad ahead of the new season with the club not been overly active in terms of arrivals. Luis Diaz has been their biggest outlay and only major arrival with Bayern finally convincing Liverpool to let go of the winger. However that has been balanced by the departure of Leroy Sane whose contract was not renewed while Kingsley Coman has also been sold to Al-Nassr. Thomas Muller and Eric Dier have also been released while Joao Palhinha has been sent on loan to Tottenham Hotspur. With no established back-up for Harry Kane up front, lacking numbers on the flanks and long term injuries to Musiala, Davies and Ito, it is an understrength team that will be heading into the new season. Bayern are expected to make further moves in the final days of the transfer window and they will need to boost their options, especially in the attack, if they are to aim for a 35th league title.

Target

Successful defense of their league title will be the minimum demanded by the club while improvement in the cups, both domestically and in Europe, is also expected
