It was another disappointing season for Wolfsburg last time out and one in which started with plenty of optimism, in fact the Wolves were well in the hunt for Europe at the beginning of March, but a massive slump in form saw them win just one more time and finish 12th in the table. Head-coach Hasenhuttl was sacked towards the end of the last campaign, so the club have again had to make another appointment. Dutchman Paul Simonis will become the sixth manager in the last 5 years and will be hoping to fare better than his predecessors. In order for Wolfsburg to be challenging at the top-end of the table again, changes were needed. The squad has been reduced down with a lot of underperforming players moved on and four new faces coming in. Key attacker Amoura has signed permanently after an impressive loan spell last season. The Algerian scored 9 times and produced 10 assists, so this is a big plus. Vavro has also signed a full-time contract after also being an integral part of the defence last season. Defensive midfielder Vini Souza is their biggest signing of the summer and should bring some energy and bite to the midfield which was lacking last season. Young talent Zehtner is also one to watch after impressing in a left-midfield role for second division Paderborn previously. Right-winger Lindstrom could be a good loan signing from Napoli if he can rediscover his form after a rather underwhelming spell at Everton. More may be needed in the transfer market still, especially in defensive areas, but you feel Wolfsburg can deliver more consistent performances this season.
