RB Leipzig endured a disastrous campaign last season, finishing well short of the title race as they failed to make it to Europe for the first time in nine years after finishing seventh in the league table. Leipzig were inconsistent throughout the campaign while the sacking of Marco Rose in March did not trigger any improvement in the final third of the campaign. Interim coach Zslot Low was also let go at the end of the season and Leipzig will be heading into the new campaign with a new man on the sidelines after confirming Werder Bremen coach Ole Werner as their permanent replacement. Leipzig have managed to keep hold of almost all of their key players with Benjamin Sesko their only major departure so far. The attacker has been replaced by Brazilian forward Romulo while Vermeeren's loan move has been converted into a permanent transfer. Other major arrivals include Yan Diomande and Johan Bakayoko respectively while they have also boosted their numbers in the midfield by bringing in Andrija Maksimovic and Ezechiel Banzuzi. Leipzig have been busy in the transfer window but majority of their arrivals are players with potential and patience is needed before they can start showing their quality. There are reports that Xavi Simons is also expected to leave before the transfer window shuts and if that happens, then Leipzig will need to dip into the market once again as they look for an immediate return to Europe next season

Target

Immediate return to the Champions League will be the minimum expected out of Werner this season though they are unlikely to put up any type of title challenge
