Cardiff enjoyed a bittersweet season. Reaching the play-offs in 5th position and finishing strongly was a success but narrowly missing out on promotion in the play-offs will be a bitter disappointment. The current outlook in the Cardiff camp is that of optimism. They have so far kept hold of their key players ahead of the new season and manager Neil Harris will see this as a major positive to now kick on. In the market, Cardiff smartly added in two much needed positions with Moore providing added power up front and Osei-Tutu in defence. Both have started brightly in pre-season. Moore should slot into the starting XI after scoring 10 goals for Wigan last season and will add something different to a Cardiff attack which scored 68 goals in the past campaign, the 4th best record in the league. Cardiff's attack looks to be their main strength this season and manager Harris will play his usual expansive football. Hoilett and Rawls can score goals and will provide good support for new signing Moore. Cardiff's defence remains a weakness. Individual and avoidable errors at the back led to their defence conceding 58 goals last season. Despite worries at the back, Harris has a good core of players who know their job and how to go about their business.

Target

Automatic promotion. Harris will be expecting to push on and be fighting for the top two spots come the end of the season. Play-offs should be a minimum but don't be surprised if Cardiff break into the top two.
