Norwich fell out of the Premier League with a whimper last season, losing their last seven games to finish 13 points adrift at the bottom of the table. The challenge for boss Daniel Farke, in a short turnaround, is to ensure they move on quickly from the failings of last season. One player who had an especially disappointing end to the last campaign was Teemu Pukki. The Finn started the season well but faded badly after Christmas, looking more and more tired and devoid of confidence as the weeks went by. Farke is sure Pukki will come again and this is a striker who hit 29 goals when the Canaries won promotion in 2018/19. Much of that squad remains, although exciting youngsters Todd Cantwell, Max Aarons and Jamal Lewis continue to be linked with moves away. With an experienced, talented group of players recruitment has mainly been focused on bringing in players for the future. One notable name to arrive is Jordan Hugill. The forward impressed on loan at QPR last season and has the right qualities to complement Pukki up front. Norwich have all the ingredients to have a highly successful campaign. The only question is whether the club, manager and players can easily forget about the lows of last season. If they can, there is no reason why they can’t be challenging at the top of the table.

Target

Promotion is well within their capabilities if they are not burdened by last season’s failures.
