Rotherham United secured promotion back to the Championship last season at the first time of asking as they did enough to secure 2nd place in League One. Their away form was the problem for Paul Warne’s side when they were last in this division as they could only manage 11 points from a possible 69, with just one win on their travels all season. They completely turned that around last campaign securing 10 wins and three draws from 18 away matches. The Millers will be largely relying on the players who stepped up so impressively last season like defender Michael Ihiekwe, central midfielder Matt Crooks and winger Chiedozie Ogbene. Regular starters Dan Barlaser and Daniel Iversen have left the club but some astute additions have been made. Angus Macdonald and Wes Harding both have experience but also a point to prove at this level, while attacking midfielder Kieran Sadlier is an exciting arrival after his impressive form for Doncaster Rovers last season. Up front is an area where Rotherham could struggle. Record signing Freddie Ladapo did hit 17 goals in the promotion push but he was inconsistent and was not always a first-choice starter. Warne will have gained valuable experience and knowledge from his team's failed attempt to stay up in 2018/19 and this could prove the difference this time around.

Target

Could spring a few surprises if they can recapture their away form from last season but survival will be the main aim.
