Won their 1st title in 2025. Last season failed to even make the playoffs. Missed them on goal difference after mediocre campaign W7 D7 L6. The main reason for that was likely the decision to sell star CF Rasmussen in January. She scored 11 goals in the opening 13 rounds and her departure really unsettled the rest of the season. This decision was among the reasons why coach Babington lost his job in the summer after only a year in charge. Dean Heffernan returns to working. He coached Wanderers from 2019 to 2021 but then spent the last 5 years as a pundit. His task is to develop young talent as it seems Mariners are not planning to compete this season. The Player of the Season in the A-League in each of the last 2 years AM Gomez and the only reliable CF Farrow among the many regulars that left this summer. The replacements signed are young and relatively inexperienced. It is clear Mariners see this season as a rebuild project. In attack the oldest striker is 19-year-old Tiana Fuller. The depth in midfield is appalling. The only natural CM on the current roster is Tess Quilligan. It’s unclear who can even try to replicate the production Gomez was giving the team. Coach Heffernan hinted that the rebuild process will continue well into the season so a bunch new signings after the campaign is underway are to be expected.

Target

Making the top 6 will be seen as an overachievement. The goal seems to be to use the year to develop young talent.
