Failed to make the play-offs yet again last season. Slight improvement though. Won 2 away games to end 2-year wait for an away win. Also accumulated 2 more points compared to a year earlier despite last season having 3 fewer rounds. In the end stayed 4 points outside the top 6, so the play-offs were not that far away. Scored just 20 goals in the 20 rounds, only the bottom 2 teams scored fewer. This was the main reason why only 7 wins were achieved. There was a significant improvement defensively. Goalie Teresa Morrissey had the second-most clean sheets – 6. Glory conceded just 30 goals, compared to 46 the previous year. The improved defending attracted attention and trio of solid defenders departed this summer. Right-back Johnston will be missed most. Signed Buchanan from Wanderers as her replacement. She hasn’t shown anywhere near as much potential as Johnston though. Yet to find replacements for McKenna and Tathem. This could see the defensive stability regress again. Striker Maggie Jenkins is the only move so far in terms of forward reinforcements. She comes to replace Hollar. Jenkins is an unproven player so there are no guarantees she will be starting much. After a solid first year at the club Albanian centre forward Rola Badawiya will hope to better her 5 goals from last term. She is the main hope for improved scoring record. Her ability to operate on counterattack makes Glory much better team on their travels than they had been for years. Overall, the feel is that the team got slightly weaker this summer. This could still change with Glory having 3 free spots for marquee signings. They can still add a few high-profile players. Need to add depth in defence for certain.
