Victory lost the Grand Final in 2025. Last season things were harder. Barely made the post season. Stole the last place in the playoffs (6th place) only on goal difference. Mediocre campaign all the way W8 D4 L8. That said GK Newbon had the most clean sheets (7) and was voted the league’s Best GK. It was their solid defending that saw them eliminate Canberra to go to the semis. There lost both legs vs Melbourne City with the same 0-1 result. CF White started the season great but scored just 1 goal in her last 12 appearances. She was released at the end of the campaign. Sophie Harding was signed to replace her but it seems far more likely Furphy to be starting most games as a lone striker. Useful Lowe and Pollicina the 2 other major departures. It seems this will give Saveska (20) opportunity to establish as a regular this term. New US midfielder Leach should play often also. The main strength of the team last season was their defending. All major players in that area and the impressive GK Newbon stay put. Victory should have very good defensive record again as a result. Finding a reliable 10+ goal provider will be the biggest challenge. If Victory can do that they can possibly go all the way. Without a reliable striker the up and down form from last season could continue.

Target

Can mount a title challenge only if the best 11 stay healthy. Lack depth but the best players are of high quality.
